Choose the Rust profile, review its world, identity, ports, and security settings, complete step 3 Review, then save. Test a Vanilla server before adding a framework/plugins if you are setting up Rust for the first time.
Identity and networking
Synix supplies the supported +server.identity value from the server identity. Keep separate installations and identities for separate instances to avoid sharing world/configuration data unintentionally.
Review the actual game, query, optional RCON, and companion ports. The Game List contains Synix template defaults, not a forwarding checklist.
Rust+ uses the supported App Port, separately from player gameplay and optional RCON. Follow Rust's pairing/network requirements. Never share RCON credentials to help players join.
Vanilla and Oxide
Vanilla uses the official server files. Selecting Oxide installs the supported framework after the Steam files. This does not choose or vet individual plugins.
Synix reapplies the selected supported Oxide runtime after Rust updates/validation. To return to official Vanilla files, change the framework selection and run the supported Update or Validate workflow.
Back up world, configuration, and plugin data before changing the framework or game version.
Why plugins can be C# files
Oxide/uMod plugins can be .cs source files because the loader compiles/loads them for the server. They are not pieces of Synix's application code and are not harmless merely because they are readable text.
Use trusted authors and the matching game/framework version. Plugin code runs with the server's Windows permissions.
Import a plugin
- Stop and back up the server.
- Open Server Options → Mod & Plugin Manager.
- Confirm the Oxide/uMod framework is detected.
- Choose Import ZIP / folder, then select the supported plugin/package.
- Review the destination under oxide/plugins, replacements, and scan warnings.
- Confirm, start manually, and check both Rust and framework logs.
Dependencies and plugin-generated configuration may require separate setup. See Mods & Plugins.
A framework download or successful file copy does not prove every plugin loaded. A Rust update can require newer framework/plugin versions.
Recovery
Use the selected import's Roll Back Import when appropriate, and a matching full backup for world/plugin-data changes made after running.
Do not delete the shared Synix AddOns folder to remove one plugin. It contains server-scoped import bookkeeping and recovery data as well as preserved files.
