Start with the selected server's Readiness, Activity & Diagnostics, and latest game log. Read the specific failure before changing unrelated settings.

Synix will not install or open

Download only from official releases or the exact WinGet package ubidzz.Synix.

Official packages include .NET 10. A missing game runtime is different from a missing Synix runtime.

If replacing an existing executable fails with access denied, close the running Synix application normally, including any active instance using that output path, and retry. Check folder access and security-software messages if it continues. Do not delete server data or disable security software as a generic fix.

For WinGet hash errors, stop rather than using an option to ignore the mismatch. The manifest must identify the same version and final installer bytes as the URL. If you are preparing a release, compare PackageVersion, InstallerUrl, and InstallerSha256; an old release URL or a replaced asset can invalidate the expected hash.

SmartScreen, Smart App Control, and antivirus

Windows trust, reputation, and antivirus messages are not all the same. Verify the official release and the exact warning before proceeding:

  • SmartScreen: A reputation warning may offer More info → Run anyway. Only consider proceeding after verifying the official source and deciding that you trust the file. Managed Windows policies can remove that option.
  • Smart App Control: May block an app when Windows cannot establish sufficient trust. There is no individual-app bypass comparable to SmartScreen's Run anyway option.
  • Antivirus detection: Investigate the exact detection and file. Do not assume every alert is a false positive simply because the file is named Synix.

WinGet approval and a matching SHA-256 hash do not create a code-signing certificate or guarantee that an app is safe.

Do not disable Windows security features solely to run Synix. Report the exact warning, package version, and download source without sharing private information. Microsoft's Smart App Control FAQ explains its trust checks and current limitations.

Missing MSVCP140.dll, VCRUNTIME140.dll, or another game prerequisite

Use the game's prerequisite guidance and Synix's readiness message. Obtain Visual C++ runtimes from Microsoft's supported redistributable page.

Do not download individual DLL files from random websites or put unrelated DLLs beside the server executable.

Some games require different runtimes, Windows features, accounts, or hardware. Synix's included .NET runtime does not replace those requirements.

Server stays on Starting, exits, or restarts repeatedly

  1. Open its latest game log and check the first actual error.
  2. Verify the selected executable, edition, version, loader, and folder.
  3. Check required files, available RAM/disk space, and occupied ports.
  4. Complete any first-start agreement, token, or in-game setup.
  5. If modded, review version/dependency errors and test only after backing up.
  6. Stop through Synix before making changes.

A game can have a live launcher while its actual server failed, or a healthy process while a query/API is unavailable. Synix tracks supported process groups, but externally managed deployments have limits.

Repeatedly clicking Start or launching a second copy manually can make diagnosis harder.

Stop or restart is taking time

Games can need time to save and close child processes. Wait for Synix's result and inspect its activity message.

Synix attempts supported graceful shutdown before a staged termination fallback. Forced termination can lose unsaved progress. Do not simultaneously kill processes or relaunch the same server through another manager.

A setting, player list, or connection test is missing

Tools are capability-dependent. The selected game might not support that configuration value, expose named players, or provide a compatible query channel.

EOS-only and some crossplay modes can show N/A or hide unsupported actions. An empty roster is not interchangeable with a confirmed zero-player count.

For Minecraft, check the edition and command/management channel. For Satisfactory, follow the local API connection guide.

Save Server / Save Changes stays disabled

Required settings passing completes step 2, not the entire setup. Open step 3 — Review and read the current summary. Save unlocks after that summary is shown. Editing settings afterward requires another review.

If Review is still unavailable, read the validation message and complete the highlighted requirement. See Dashboard & setup.

A config edit did not appear in Synix

  1. Check that you edited the selected server's active configuration file, not a template or another installation.
  2. Stop the server, reopen the file in Synix, and click Save Changes.
  3. Confirm the save completed without a file-change, validation, or persistence error.
  4. Reopen Configure and check the field again.

Synix syncs only fields mapped by that game's exact file/section/key definition. It does not put every arbitrary mod setting in servers.json. Saving can reconcile drift even when no text was changed. Both ARKs have common-field mappings; an identically named key in a different INI section is not the same binding.

A change made in an external editor does not trigger a universal live watcher. Minecraft additionally re-reads supported properties on stopped Refresh and before setup/start.

See Configuration Editor before repairing/resetting the file.

How do I import a mod without filling out Import locations?

Click Import ZIP / folder first, choose your downloaded ZIP/mod file or extracted folder, and review the detected destination.

If no route is recognized, use Mod support & setup and the game-author instructions to confirm a destination. Do not guess. The advanced location editor is optional configuration, not the starting point.

For ARK, reading a package discovers supported provider IDs; ARK downloads them on start. It is not an offline content upload. For Minecraft, use Import Server Pack for a complete pack; a CurseForge client manifest alone is insufficient.

See Mods & Plugins, ARK, and Minecraft.

Why is a game's mod support marked Needs verification?

The catalog has not established a reliable server-specific method yet. It does not say that the game cannot be modded. Documented methods, automatic import rules, and live game tests are separate.

See Game Mod Support for the methods, dates, references, and evidence gaps.

Satisfactory command runs but the token is not saved

Use Connect automatically and read its result. Check -NewConsole, matching Windows permissions, an empty command input, a responsive server, writable game logs, and complete fresh output.

Synix verifies the token before saving it and retains the previous connection after failure. Do not post the printed token line. See the full Satisfactory troubleshooting table.

LAN works but internet access fails

Use Networking & Port Forwarding. Check the game's actual ports/protocols, appropriate Windows Firewall rules, router forwarding, double NAT/CGNAT, and a test from outside the LAN.

A failed test to your own public address can be a NAT loopback limitation, not proof that outside players cannot join.

Allow only the necessary executable/ports and network profiles. Do not disable the firewall or forward every admin port.

Where are my backups?

Use Server Options → Open Backup Folder, then check Settings → Backups for a custom root.

Older backups remain in the old root after changing locations. Retention can remove older archives when new backups are created. See Backups, Restore & Transfers.

Do not restore by extracting a ZIP over a running game.

Backup/update failed and the server did not start

This is intentional when that step was requested before launch. Correct the actual backup destination, free-space, access, download, or update problem, then retry.

A custom backup destination is not silently replaced with a default. A locked old archive during retention can produce a warning while the newly completed backup remains available; read the result to distinguish cleanup from creation failure.

Restore says files are restored but settings are not synchronized

The restored files are already active, but Synix could not finish updating its saved entry. Start stays blocked, and the previous installation/recovery record is retained.

Correct the reported problem and retry Start. Synix retries synchronization before other startup work. Do not delete recovery folders or repeatedly extract the ZIP over the installation.

See Workflow Safety & Recovery.

Why is some text still English?

The Help Center, technical logs/reports, and game-facing commands/identifiers intentionally remain English or unchanged. Ordinary interface text uses the selected supported language with an English fallback.

Report unexpected untranslated UI wording with the language and window name. See Settings, Languages & Privacy.

Where are logs, and what does Clear do?

Synix text logs are under C:\Synix\SynixData\logs. Open the latest game log separately for errors produced by the game.

Handled diagnostic exceptions can be recorded in the text log without being shown on the dashboard. This avoids flooding Activity & Diagnostics with non-actionable details.

Clearing the visible dashboard activity does not mean every on-disk diagnostic or game log has been removed.

How to report a useful problem

Open Settings → Report a Problem, or use GitHub Issues.

Include:

  • Synix version and installation method.
  • Windows version and game/profile.
  • Minecraft edition/loader or other relevant framework versions.
  • What action you took, what you expected, and what happened.
  • The exact error and a short relevant log excerpt.
  • Whether the same setup previously worked and what changed.

Review the report before sharing. Remove passwords, tokens, Discord webhooks, personal paths, and private network details. Satisfactory's own console/log can contain a usable administrator token.

A successful package-install test does not test every game, mod, network, or backup workflow. Reproducible game-specific reports are still valuable.
